Pro Shop
Pro Shop
The tennis center’s Pro Shop is open 7 a.m.–10 p.m. daily during the summer season. During the spring and fall, limited hours are maintained at the pro shop, with additional support provided by the fitness center staff in the Turner Community Center. Racquet-stringing may be arranged, and balls, grips, water and Gatorade are available for sale. We are a distributor of Prince tennis products. Junior development registration forms can be obtained at the pro shop, and private lessons can be arranged.
Instruction
Private lessons may be arranged by contacting the pro shop. Small group clinics and other forms of semi-private instruction may also be arranged. Contact the Pro Shop for fees, schedule details and questions.
Courts
Accessing The Courts
All players must check in at the pro shop before playing.
From within the Institution grounds, walking access is via the Hurst parking lot and Turner service road, or via the pedestrian path from the Woodlands. Regular bus and tram services (North Route) stop at the pro shop at approximately 20-minute intervals between 8:15 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. Bike racks are provided behind the pro shop.
For players coming to the tennis center from the surrounding community, complimentary parking is provided at the Turner Community Center, entrance on Route 394. Enter Turner via the center doors and walk through the lobby to the Turner Gate/Ticket Office at the rear of the building. Ask for a "tennis walking pass" at the gate. This complimentary pass must be stamped and validated at the tennis center pro shop when checking in and paying for court time. After playing, turn in the pass at the Turner gate as you leave. This pass is valid for access to the tennis center only and may not be used for general admission to the Institution grounds, Amphitheater events or other programs.
Reserving Courts
Popular court hours, weekday mornings at 7, 8, 9 and 10 a.m., are reserved using a lottery drawing, which takes place at 5 p.m. Sunday–Thursday at the Farmers Market next to the Main Gate. Players draw numbers that signify sign-up order. Lowest number registers first and has first choice of court and time. This is also an excellent opportunity to arrange games and meet new players. After the lottery results have been recorded at the pro shop (approximately 5:30 p.m.), any remaining morning hours are available for reservation. Players may reserve "non-lottery" court hours, as well as Saturday and Sunday, one day in advance by phone or in person at the Pro Shop.
Youth Tennis Program
An outstanding instructional and skill development program for youth ages 3 and up is offered throughout the summer. Daily sessions with experienced instructors provide learning and playing opportunities for tots, intermediate, advanced and elite players. Advance enrollment is recommended, but daily walk-up registration is also welcome, as space allows. Pre-registration is encouraged, class size is limited. Contact the pro shop for fees, schedule details, and questions.
