Dog Registration
If you plan to bring a dog to Chautauqua Institution for an extended stay, you are required to register your pet with the Safety & Security Office. This quick, complimentary process requires proof of up-to-date vaccinations from a licensed veterinarian and confirmation of your Chautauqua Institution address during your visit.
Additionally, in accordance with local regulations, all dogs must be registered with the Chautauqua Town Clerk. The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets mandates all dogs in New York State be licensed with valid proof of rabies vaccination. Rabies vaccinations must remain valid for the duration of the license.
All dogs staying in New York State for more than 30 days and older than four months must be registered with the town of Chautauqua.
Bicycle Registration
Bicycles are a preferred mode of transportation on the pedestrian-friendly grounds of Chautauqua. To enhance security and aid in recovery if lost or stolen, all bicycles should be registered at the Safety & Security Office.
To register your bicycle, bring it in person or provide a clear photo. Our team will conduct a brief inspection, document key details, and issue a bicycle license sticker — a complimentary service for all visitors.
Property Keys & Information
As a courtesy for Property owners, you may leave a spare key with the Safety & Security Office for emergency access. To do so, please visit 7 Massey and complete a Property Owner Information Sheet. This ensures your residency details remain up to date in our system. All keys are securely stored using our detailed organizational system. While we take every precaution to ensure the security of keys left with us, property owners should be aware that leaving a spare key is done at their own discretion. This service is provided as a convenience for property owners. The decision to utilize this service rests solely with the property owner.
Winter Vehicle Registration

Once registered, you will receive a registration sticker to display on the rear driver’s side window. This registration must be renewed annually.
