The Chautauqua Sports Club offers a wide variety of outdoor recreational and leisure activities during the 2021 summer season. If you enjoy being on the water, you will love taking your family out on one of our beautiful pontoon boats from the Main Dock just steps away from the Athenaeum Hotel. The Sports Club is pleased to once again offer rentals of two new Smith Boys 23' 12-passenger 115HP Berkshire Pontoon Boats docked at Chautauqua Main Dock on a half-day or weekly basis during the season. The half day rentals will be available from 12–4:30 p.m. daily.

The Sports Club offers kayak, stand up paddleboard (SUPs), canoe and paddle boat rentals. Our popular sunrise SUP and kayak mornings will be on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6–7 a.m. through August 13 and 6:30–7:30 a.m. from August 18 through August 27. Guided group kayak tours along the shores of Chautauqua Institution will be held on Tuesday and Friday from 1–2 p.m. Reservations required.

If you prefer to stay onshore, Sports Club is the place to go for fishing rods and live bait, sports equipment, shuffleboard, lawn bowling, and outdoor ping pong. Fees vary.

All are welcome to join the men's and women's slow pitch softball league. Softball Co-commissioners Mark Altschuler and Carrie Zachry will help you find a spot on a team. Men’s league softball games are scheduled Mondays and Wednesdays between 5–7:30 p.m. Women’s softball games are held between 5–7:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Sharpe Field.

Pending NY State pandemic rulings, the Sports Club hopes to host a Beach-to-Beach Color Sprint on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. and the popular annual Old First Night Run/Walk chip-timed fund-raising race on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 8 a.m. 2021 and retro Old First Night Run t-shirts and posters are available for sale.
