The Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra offers a minimum of 52 services over an eight week summer season from the end of June to the end of August. The Orchestra typically performs three different programs per week from the major symphonic repertoire to collaborating with Opera, Ballet, and theater Departments. Founded in 1929, the CSO is the professional orchestra for the Chautauqua Institution, a haven for the arts, literature, philosophy, recreation and religious studies. Chautauqua is located on beautiful Chautauqua Lake in Western NY State.

The CSO is governed by a CBA which includes the following:
2019 Summer Season minimum pay = $9,360 for section plus $6,400 Professional Maintenance Allowance (housing), travel reimbursement, AFM pension, Institutional allowance.
