The Chautauqua Dance program, formed by artistic director Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux in 1989, includes performances by internationally acclaimed ballet and modern dance companies and the renowned School of Dance.
Chautauqua Dance is distinguished by its strong Balanchine influence under the tutelage of Master Teacher Patricia McBride. The visiting companies provide an unmatched atmosphere for School of Dance students to learn and perform alongside professional dancers. Preview performances in the Carnahan-Jackson Studios, where the resident companies and school study and rehearse daily, have also become anticipated events for Chautauqua fans.
The Chautauqua School of Dance, under the direction of Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, is well known for the unique opportunity it affords students to study with master teachers within a small studio environment.
