Chautauqua Institution today announced the promotion of Senior Director of Marketing and Analytics Vanessa Weinert, to the role of vice president for marketing and communications. She replaces Emily Morris, who is stepping down from the vice-presidential role to focus on brand strategy in support of the Institution’s goals to grow Summer Assembly attendance and year-round engagement.
Weinert has served the Institution since 2012 in a series of roles on the marketing team. Most recently, she was senior director of marketing and analytics with responsibility for leading and implementing marketing campaigns and the Institution’s data analytics program. As vice president, she will serve as a member of the executive team with a focus on marketing and communications strategy as well as selected enterprise operations including CHQ Assembly, Chautauqua Travels, Chautauqua Bookstore and Chautauqua Cinema.
“For more than a decade, Vanessa’s expertise has informed strategy and decision making at Chautauqua. Her collaboration with Emily Morris over the past seven years has notably strengthened our outreach to both existing and new patrons through effective marketing and data strategies. I am delighted that she is transitioning into this role; she’s an exceptional talent,” President Michael E. Hill said.
Morris has served as senior vice president and chief brand officer since 2017. More recently, she also assumed responsibility for the Athenaeum Hotel Company and other enterprise operations. In the role of chief brand officer, she will focus on strategy and initiatives across the organization to build on the brand and impact of Chautauqua’s Summer Assembly and year-round operations. As part of this transition, the hotel company will now report to Executive Vice President Sebby Baggiano.
“We are grateful for Emily’s leadership and service to Chautauqua and support her voluntary transition to a more focused role for Chautauqua centering on brand strategy,” Hill said. “This is particularly important as we prepare for the 150th anniversary celebration and a refreshed strategic plan that depends upon expanding Chautauqua’s reach and impact.”
This reassignment of responsibilities is effective April 15, 2024.
