On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Chautauqua Institution again joins individuals, families and organizations from all 50 states and in countries around the world for Giving Tuesday. This growing, global movement celebrates the collective gifts shared in community with one another. At Chautauqua, these are gifts of artistic expression, lifelong learning, multi-generational experiences and treasured moments that lift up the best of human values.

Throughout the day on Giving Tuesday, the Institution invites the community to join an online celebration. On its social media channels — namely Facebook at facebook.com/chq1874 or by following the #CHQGivingTuesday hashtag on Instagram — there will be a series of announcements as the Institution lifts up the generous contributions of the community. A special matching gift will be offered during the 24-hour celebration of Giving Tuesday. For one day only, the Edward L. Anderson, Jr. Foundation will generously contribute $1,000 for every 10 gifts received from the community, up to 100 gifts. Gifts to the 2019 Chautauqua Fund, of any amount, from new or returning donors qualify. As a special thank you for participating in Giving Tuesday, anyone who makes a gift to the Chautauqua Fund on Tuesday, Dec. 3 — of any size — will be entered to win a $100 CHQ gift card and gift basket.

Unrestricted gifts to the annual Chautauqua Fund help support a wide range of experiences that are enjoyed by patrons of all ages. From enriching youth programs to the care of the beautiful grounds, to inspiring interfaith dialogue and community engagement initiatives benefitting students in Chautauqua County schools, to scholarships for young artists attending the Institution’s Schools of Performing and Visual Arts to the hosting of leading thought leaders in the Amphitheater, gifts to the Chautauqua Fund make this possible.

In addition to leveraging the generosity of the Anderson Foundation’s match on Giving Tuesday, two of Chautauqua Institution’s trustees have challenged the community. Thanks to the Trustee Challenge, anyone making their first gift to the 2019 Chautauqua Fund between now and December 15 will have their gift matched x2! This means for every $1 a family contributes, Chautauqua will receive an additional $2. On Giving Tuesday, you can qualify for both matches if you are a new donor to the Fund.
