Announcing the 2024 Kwame Alexander Writers’ Lab & Conference at Chautauqua Institution
Everyone has a story to tell. Join us to discover yours at the Inaugural 2024 Kwame Alexander Writers’ Lab at Chautauqua Institution (previously known as the Chautauqua Writers’ Festival), taking place over four days, June 18-21. Reimagined by the #1 New York Times bestselling author and Michael I. Rudell Artistic Director of Literary Arts, the Writers’ Lab boasts a tradition of intensive master class workshops with award-winning contemporary authors while enjoying our beautiful lakeside community, Chautauqua Institution. This year we are celebrating and featuring writers in Memoir, Poetry, and Children’s Literature, including Kwame Alexander, Safiya Sinclair, Kate Bowler, Nikki Grimes, Cynthia Leitich Smith, Jillian Hanesworth, and many more!
Attendees will also enjoy an immersive experience through a variety of featured speaker events, including opening and closing keynote addresses, panel conversations in each genre and on the publishing industry, mix and mingle events with agents and publishers, and a Pitchapalooza event (American Idol for authors) with Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry, aka The Book Doctors. These various conversations will draw fruitful and urgent connections between the personal, the political, and the craft of writing.
Registration opens Monday, February 26, 2024! Save on your accommodations via the Athenaeum Hotel by booking with our early-bird accommodation rates, ending April 30 or while vacancy lasts.
