About Josh
I began my employment with the Chautauqua Hotel Corporation as a member of the Catering and Events team during the summer of 2013. I viewed this opportunity as a perfect way to immerse myself into the world of Chautauqua, to expand my understanding of what the Chautauqua Experience could mean to me personally, and to understand the greater impact it has in the surrounding communities. My summer experience clearly made an impression, as I returned in 2014 upon graduation from Syracuse University to continue working in my role as a member of the Catering and Events team. Over the next few years, I would assist in the management, setup, and service of a multitude of events, conferences, and weddings — learning a lot about the world of hospitality along the way. In 2018, I was appointed bar manager for the first iteration of a full-service bar within the grounds of the Institution. In this role, I was responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Athenaeum Hotel Bar and serving those same needs for the various events and weddings booked throughout the year. 2019 brought with it yet another opportunity as I accepted my current position as senior sales manager. In this role, I lead the sales process for assigned business and guide clients through the full scope of an event. I am responsible for representing the Athenaeum Hotel’s services and facilities at the highest level to deliver outstanding guest service while ensuring financial profitability.
Locally born and raised and current resident of Jamestown, New York, I am a 2010 graduate of Southwestern High School. I have previous employment experience at locally-owned, family businesses Brigiotta’s Farmland and Produce Center and The Pub, both staples in the community. I am a 2014 graduate of Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and policy studies. During my time spent on campus, I have work experience as an administrative assistant in the business office at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. I further served in internship roles as a campaign field organizer for former state Rep. Dan Maffei and community outreach and engagement coordinator for former Syracuse, New York, Mayor Stephanie Miner.
Why did you choose to work at Chautauqua? What do you like about working at Chautauqua?
I wanted to work at Chautauqua to challenge myself in a new arena and because I believed in the overall mission and values that it stands for. The best part about working here is that despite what your role might be, you have an acute sense of contributing to the expansion of those values.
Personal Interests
I am an avid sports fan and die-hard supporter of my favorite teams which include the LA Rams, New York Knicks, and Chelsea FC. Soccer has always been one of my favorites, growing up playing the sport year-round all over New York State and Pennsylvania. I continue to play today in summer and winter intermural leagues in the surrounding area.
