Cristina Pato arrived in Chautauqua for the first time in 2018 as a member of the Silkroad Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma, stunning audiences when she performed a concerto for gaita (Galician bagpipes) with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra in addition to her multiple performances with the Silkroad Ensemble. Having stolen the show with her passion, energy and artistry, Pato returns to Chautauqua with her own quartet to delve into two varied programs, one on the Institution’s chamber series and another in the Amphitheater (Tuesday, June 25 at 8:15 p.m.). Of her album Migrations, Pato says, “It is the synthesis of my classical training, my visceral connection to Galician popular music and my career in world music. Migrations is a way of understanding and approaching music as an organic being that grows, changes and evolves through the collaboration with other musicians and the influence of other musical worlds.” Join us for this stunning quartet as our 2019 chamber music series begins with an exploration of artistic depths.
