Hosted by Andre Dowell, Sphinx Organization’s Chief of Artist Engagement, this session will examine and discuss a shortlist of IDEA-focused “best practices” designed for all orchestras to consider within their hiring processes. The conversation will focus on both WHY these practices are important, as well as HOW they can be implemented effectively. Panelists will be Tito Muñoz (Music Director of The Phoenix Symphony), Meredith Snow (Chairperson of the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians), and Alberto Suarez (Principal Horn of the Kansas City Symphony).

IDEAs in Classical Music
This series of conversations on inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility will explore issues in the classical music industry worthy of deep discussions, such as the audition process and promotion, national diversity fellowships, and pathways for conductors and others in the field of classical music.
