Pilobolus: “The BIG FIVE-OH! Preview Performance”

Wednesday, August 26, 2020

Location Amphitheater

Gate Pass or event ticket required.

Pilobolus returns to Chautauqua for this special preview performance as they put the finishing touches on their new tour. For this 50th anniversary celebration, Pilobolus questions its own “givens,” turns its traditions sideways, and brings its past into the future — in a thoroughly engaging new way. As fresh and vibrant as ever, Pilobolus — that feisty arts organism — puts the “Oh!” in BIG FIVE-OH!, and continues to morph its way thrillingly into audiences’ hearts and minds.

Truly an organism, pilobolus crystallinus is a light loving fungus with spores that adhere to wherever they land. The dance company Pilobolus will be landing again at Chautauqua to spread their light. Pilobolus has created and toured more than 120 pieces of repertory in more than 65 countries. They currently perform for more than 300,000 people across the U.S. and around the world each year. Pilobolus has been featured on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” NBC’s “Today Show,” the MTV Video Music Awards, “The Harry Connick Show,” ABC’s “The Chew” and the CW Network’s “Penn & Teller: Fool Us.” Pilobolus has been recognized with many prestigious honors, including a TED Fellowship, a 2012 Grammy Award Nomination, a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cultural Programming, and several Cannes Lion Awards at the International Festival of Creativity.
