Location Chautauqua Institution Facebook Page

For this Arts Education installment of CHQ Watch Parties, join Deborah Sunya Moore, CHQ VP of Performing and Visual Arts and Kennedy Center workshop leader, as she leads this arts integrated lesson for children, families and teachers. Through the joy of singing a story, students in Pre-K through second grade explore relationships between reading comprehension strategies and introductory elements of music with colorful and fun picture books. The lessons are meant to be interactive for the whole family! Deborah will be on hand to answer questions in the comments section. Please post your thoughts and questions throughout the reading, especially from the little ones!

Through the book The Pout-Pout Fish, by Deborah Diesen, illustrated by Dan Hanna, Deborah uses singing and steady beat to tell the tale of a fish with the blues – and how one kind person can help turn a frown upside-down.

To this end, we’re trying something new here at Chautauqua: CHQ Watch Parties, highlighting some of our favorite lectures and programs from the past few years, providing educational resources for families with children, and more exciting broadcasts to be announced.
