We challenged Catheryne to a 30-second interview. Here is what she told us:

Q: What is your favorite opera?
A:Der Rosenkavalier.

Q: Who are your favorite singers?
A:Montserrat Caballé, Kiri Te Kanawa, Amber Wagner, Elīna Garanča, Deborah Voigt.

Q: What are your dream roles?
A: Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier; Leonore in Fidelio; Leonora in Il trovatore; Donna Anna in Don Giovanni; Senta in Der fliegende Holländer.

Q: What was your favorite singing experience so far or your favorite role that you have performed?
A:I had the fortune to sing the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos when I was 24.  It was one of the most challenging experiences that I've had, but it basically taught me how to sing.

Q: What do you love about opera?
A: I love the musical expression of the stories above all else.  The music is really what does it for me, and add to that storytelling and drama, and you have perfection.
Q: What is your favorite flavor of icecream?
A:Chocolate peanut butter.

Q: What else should we know?
A: I’m an avid cyclist (I typically bike 20 miles a day, even in the Chicago winter).
