A Treasure in Western NYS

5 of 5 stars on Trip Advisor •  Reviewed August 14, 2016

I have lived in Central NYS for most of my adult life. I had heard about the Chautauqua Institute in many passing conversations, But OMG! what a treasure! I traveled there recently with 4 ladies from my book club in Hammondsport, NY to hear the author of our recent read (_Euphoria, by Lily King) speak. What a fabulous day! Besides getting to know these women a bit better, we experienced a rich day full of wonder! The community is akin to time travel back into the late 1800's. The homes are lovely Victorians and bicycles abound. The atmosphere is c harming and the flower gardens impressive. There are many opportunities to participate in programs in music, theatre, literature, and science. My brain was electric with the beauty of the community and the intellectual stimulation it offered, I will DEFINITELY be returning to this hidden treasure for future experiences.
